Testing Speeds | Video: Day 3 | itunes podcasts
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Jeff Green topped the afternoon speed charts Wednesday in Jackson Hewitt Preseason Thunder testing at Daytona Internaitonal Speedway turning a fast lap of 186.722 mph.
Dale Jarrett was second fast in the afternoon session with a lap of 186.517 mph in the UPS Toyota, the best run for a Camry during the first week of testing.
“Obviously a new and different challenge for me starting 2007 with a new race team and definitely a new car,” Jarrett said. “But you come to a place like Daytona where the racing is close, and I think that it gives you the idea that anybody can win this race if you get yourself in the right position, regardless of how little experience a team may have. But we've had a good test so far, so I've been very much pleased and encouraged by what I've seen.”
Tony Raines, Scott Riggs and P.J. Jones, filling in for Robby Gordon, completed the first five.
Mike McLaughlin is shaking down Tony Stewart's Home Depot Chevrolet and led Wednesday's morning session
McLaughlin turned a fast lap of 184.483 mph. Sterling Marlin was second quick in the new Ginn Racing No. 13 entry with Jamie McMurray, Green and Jimmie Johnson rounding out the first five.
Approximately 14 teams left after Wednesday's session. Thursday will wrap up the first week of testing with another full day scheduled.
