Texas Motor Speedway has been kind to Kevin Harvick during his Nationwide Series career and the former series champion looks to extend that success this weekend in Saturday's O'Reilly 300.
Harvick has won four Nationwide Series races at Texas and returns this weekend in his Kevin Harvick Inc. ride to try for number five.
“Any time you win a race it is always exciting, but going for a fifth win at the same track means a lot," Harvick said. "My first start at TMS I had a top-10 finish. I am looking forward to bringing another win home and my first win at Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI).”
In eight career Nationwide Series starts at the track, Harvick has compiled an outstanding record. He has four wins, four top-five and seven top-10 finishes. His worst finish is 11th in 2007. He has led a total of 440 laps and completed all 1522 laps attempted.
Saturday he'll look to become the first driver in the speedway's history to win five Nationwide Series races.
“We’ve always run good here for some reason," Harvick said. "I really like this track. We don’t seem to qualify well, but we always seem to finish great. It is one of those places that really fits with what we do at KHI."
Another win would be be additionally special for Harvick as it would be his first driving for his own team.
“I think it would be a great accomplishment for not only me, but the entire organization," he said. "Although I’ve got some truck wins for KHI to get my first Nationwide Series win for KHI and my fifth Nationwide Series win at TMS on the same weekend would be tremendous.”
KHI remains atop the NASCAR Nationwide Series owner standings coming into Texas.
Although Harvick didn’t run at Nashville two weeks ago, KHI’s owner standings lead remains solid thanks to the career-best, eighth-place run by rookie Cale Gale at Nashville.
KHI has six top 10s in the season’s first seven races. Gale is scheduled for 14 races this season – 11 in the No. 33 and three in the No. 77.
But this weekend it's up to the boss to add to that record as Harvick pilots the No. 33 at Texas.
