A look at some NASCAR Sprint Cup Series facts and figures from Phoenix International Raceway as the series runs the Subway Fresh Fit 500 this Saturday, April 12.
0 - Jeff Burton and Kevin Harvick have both had zero DNF's but have captured zero poles at Phoenix in their seven starts at the track. 1 - Alan Kulwicki won the first race at Phoenix in 1988, and Geoffrey Bodine won the first pole. 2 - Greg Biffle has had two top-five finishes but an average finish of 17.4 3 - Ryan Newman has won three consecutive poles at Phoenix (2002-2004), the most of any driver. 4 - Four different drivers have scored two victories, all back-to-back, at PIR: Davey Allison (1991 and 1992), Jeff Burton (2000 and 2001), Dale Earnhardt Jr. (2003 and 2004) and Kevin Harvick (both 2006). 5 - Roush Fenway Racing has won five races at Phoenix, more than any other organization. 6 - Tony Stewart has six top-five finsihes, one victory, and eight top-10s. 7 - Jimmie Johnson holds seven top-10s at PIR. 8 - Mark Martin and Jeff Gordon both have posted eight top-five finishes at Phoenix. 9 - Carl Edwards holds the ninth-best Average Running Position of 13.6. 10 - Jeff Burton, the current Cup Series leader in points, has had the most top-10 finishes at Phoenix, with nine total. 14 - There have been 14 different pole winners at Phoenix, led by Jeff Gordon, Ryan Newman and Rusty Wallace – each with three. 19 - Nineteen different drivers have been race winners at Phoenix. 23 - There have been 23 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races at Phoenix International Raceway, one per season from 1988 through 2004 and two each season since. 115.9 - Jimmie Johnson has a Driver Rating of 115.9, the best at PIR. (Formula combining the following categories: Wins, Finishes, Top-15 Finishes, Average Running Position While on Lead Lap, Average Speed Under Green, Fastest Lap, Led Most Laps, Lead-Lap Finish. Maximum: 150 points per race.) 135.854 - Ryan Newman holds the track Qualifying Record of 135.854 mph, 26.499 seconds (11-5-04). 300 - Matt Kenseth is due to make his 300th NASCAR Sprint Cup Series start this Saturday, under the lights at Phoenix Int'l Raceway. 372 - The Backstretch at Phoenix is 372 feet longer than its Frontstretch, which measures in at 1,179 feet. 1758 - With 1758 Laps in the Top 15, Jimmie Johnson holds the Series-high record in this category at Phoenix. (Number of laps that driver was within the top 15 drivers.) 2007 - In 2007, Jeff Gordon was the winner of both the race (107.710 mph, 4-21-07) and the pole (133.136 mph, 27.040 seconds).
