Rain forced officials to cancel Friday's scheduled qualifying session for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Lifelock 400 at Michigan International Speedway with the field for Sunday's race set by points.
The session did begin but less than an hour into qualifying rain began to fall and with the prospect for heavier rain approaching, NASCAR pulled the plug.
That puts series point leader Kyle Busch on the front row for Sunday's race flanked by Jeff Burton. Dale Earnhardt, Jr., defending race winner Carl Edwards and Denny Hamlin round out the first five starters.
Jimmie Johnson, who led Friday's practice session, will start sixth followed by Greg Biffle, Greg Gordon, Kasey Kahne and Kevin Harvick.
Two drivers failed to make the 43-car field: Tony Raines and Jason Leffler, driving the Haas-CNC No. 70 Chevrolet.
The weather forecast for Saturday, which includes two Sprint Cup practices and the Craftsman Truck Series in action at MIS, calls for a 30 percent chance of showers.
