JOLIET, Ill. - The first night NASCAR weekend at Chicagoland Speedway got off to a wet start.
A major rainstorm forced officials to cancel Thursday night's qualifying session for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Lifelock.com 400 with Saturday night's race lined-up based on owners' points.
A line of ominous dark clouds descended on the speedway just before 8 p.m. with a torrential rain hitting the track moments later.
"That was ugly," said Jeff Burton who will start third Saturday night. "I'm proud to be here."
Series point leader Kyle Busch will take the green flag from the number one spot flanked by Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Burton, Carl Edwards and Jimmie Johnson round out the first five.
Defending race winner Tony Stewart will start 12th on Saturday night.
A pair of drivers will not make the race; Tony Raines and Johnny Sauter.
Two practice sessions are slated for Friday with Saturday night's race slated for a 8 p.m. (ET) start.
