Edwards-Harvick Scuffle

Carl Edwards and Kevin Harvick were involved in a confrontation Thursday at Lowe's Motor Speedway stemming from last week's accident at Talladega Superspeedway.

Witnesses say Edwards approached Harvick in the Nationwide Series garage area to discuss last week's incident at Talladega when the two became involved in a shoving match.

During the qualifying rain-out press conference Edwards was faced with the question of what happened.

"No, I am not gonna talk about that," Edwards said.

The altercation came from comments Harvick made about Edwards in the wake of last week's Talladega incident that started when the No. 99 and teammate Greg Biffle made contact late in the race.

"Yeah, like I told everybody else, maybe he should have raced the rest of the day," Harvick said after the race. "I know that his fans won’t be very proud of him sitting back there riding around like a pansy. But when he got up there and decided to start racing, it caused a big wreck. So, it was one of those deals."

According to the Charlotte Observer Edwards left a note for Harvick in his private airplane after the race that read "Kevin, Thanks for (expletive) me on TV - I was really trying to screw up everyone's day. Love, Carl."

NASCAR officials said they considered the incident a non-issue.
