Kyle Busch won his fifth straight NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race Friday night holding off Matt Crafton to win the WinStar World Casino 350k at Texas Motor Speedway.
Busch bumped Ron Hornaday out of the lead with 50 laps to go and went on to score the victory.
“It’s an accomplishment to beat the 33 bunch here for sure and we got it done,” said Busch, who led twice for a race-high 54 laps.
Busch has now won seven times this 13 starts this season in the No. 51 Billy Ballew-owned Toyota. He's finished outside the top two only three times.
Series points leader Hornaday finished third and was able to open up a 197 point lead on Crafton with only two races left in the season.
However he wasn't all too pleased with what turned out to be the winning move by Busch,
"He can do whatever he wants,” Hornaday said. “The rear bumper’s caved in so it wasn’t no draft. The back tires were off the ground.”
Crafton had a strong truck most of the night but in the end could not gain any ground on Hornaday in the standings.
"Honestly, I haven’t even looked at the points,” Crafton said. “I wanted to win tonight. That was the main thing we came here for.”
Todd Bodine and Colin Braun rounded out the top five.
Johnny Sauter, Brian Scott, Mike Skinner, David Starr and Rick Crawford completed the first ten finishers.
Busch will now try to keep his hopes alive of sweeping the Texas tripleheader weekend with a victory in Saturday's Nationwide Series O'Reilly 300, where he'll start sixth.
The Camping World Truck Series now heads to Phoenix International Raceway next Friday night.
