Mike Smith was a former driving and mechanical instructor at his father's Top Fuel Drag Racing School. Mike has worked with the likes of Chuck Etchells, John Carey and Jim Epler. Mike captured his first career victory at an IHRA event in 1992, and won the Citrus Nationals five times. Mike is also capable of both tuning and driving a Top Fuel Dragster, and 2001 marks first full year in NHRA as a driver. Smith is competing in his 12th year on the NHRA tour this season. Mike's younger brother, John, is the driver of the Prestone Top Fuel dragster and his sister-in-law, Rhonda Hartman-Smith, pilot's the Fram Top Fuel dragster.
