Max Papis has raced in the Champ Car World Series, IRL IndyCar Series, Formula One, Rolex Sports Car Series Racing and NASCAR.
He began his Champ Car career in 1996 and earned its most improved driver award in 1998. His first career Champ Car victory came in 2000 at Homestead.
Papis began racing in the Rolex Sports Car Series at the 2000 Rolex 24 at Daytona, where he won in the SR class and finished fourth overall.
In 2002, he claimed overall victory in the Rolex 24 at Daytona after his third consecutive appearance at that race.
Papis won his first auto racing championship in 2004, with seven poles and four victories in the Rolex Series Daytona Prototype category with Scott Pruett. He also finished on the podium eight times in 12 starts that year.
Papis first climbed behind the wheel of a NASCAR stock car in 2006 in the NASCAR Nationwide Series. He made his first NASCAR Sprint Cup start in 2008 and raced in both of the series' road courses that year.
