Todd Bodine, a native of Chemung, N.Y., the youngest of three racing brothers, is a chassis specialist who got his start in racing in Modifieds in Connecticut.
His best racing success has come in the Busch Series and most recently in the Truck Series.
In July 2005, Bodine returned behind the wheel of the No. 30 Germain Racing Toyota Truck after starting the year off with the Fiddleback Team. Bodine, who was 15th in the standings in mid-summer, climbed to finish third in the final standings after capturing 10 finishes of third or better, including three-straight wins at end the year.
He finished second in the 1997 Busch Series standings after an intense battle with good friend Randy LaJoie. He finished third to LaJoie in 1996. He gained the first of 13 career Busch Series victories in only his 22nd start, at Dover, Del.
He got his start in racing working as a child at the family-owned Chemung Speedrome. At different times in his career he worked for the Buck Baker Driving School and as a fabricator for various race teams. made his return to a full-time seat in the NASCAR Cup Series in 2001 and despite some promising runs battled bad luck and mechanical trouble on his way to an unfulfilling 29th in the point standings.
In 2002, Bodine drove part-time in the Cup Series after Haas-Carter Motorsports struggled to find solid sponsorship for all 36 races. He scored four top-10 finishes in 24 starts and finished 38th in the Winston Cup standings.
Bodine won his first Cup Bud Pole in 1997 in his hometown race at Watkins Glen International for Cicci-Welliver Racing.
His best championship finish was 20th in 1994 while driving for Butch Mock, for whom he scored his best career finish, third at Atlanta. He made his Cup debut for Mock in 1992 at Watkins Glen.
