Oriol Servia's Champ Car career has taken him through various teams, with each offering different levels of success.
The 1999 Dayton Indy Lights champion had several highlights in his first season in the CART Championship in 2000. He finished in the runner-up position for the Jim Trueman Rookie of the Year award as a member of PPI Motorsports as he scored championship points in 11 of 20 events, led by his first career podium finish of third at Detroit.
In 2001 he moved to the newly formed Sigma Autosport team, where he had nine points paying finishes en route to a 19th overall finish for the season.
In 2002, Servia changed teams once again, moving to Patrick Racing as a replacement for Townsend Bell for season’s final 10 races. He stayed with the team through the 2003 season prior to departing to Dale Coyne Racing in 2004.
The Spaniard had a breakout year in 2005, when he joined the fifth different team in his career after taking over for Bruno Junqueira at Newman-Haas. In his 13 races for the team, he scored his first career win and pole on his way to a runner-up finish in the championship standings.
With Junquiera returning to full health and back to his spot with Newman-Haas, Servia found himself traveling to his sixth team in 2006, teaming up with rookie Katherine Legge at PKV Racing. Unlike the previous year, however, Servia was unable to challenge for the title – scoring just four top fives and eight top 10s on his way to finishing 11th in the championship standings.
