Kelly Bires lives in Charlotte, N.C. At age 21, Bires debuted in the NASCAR Craftsmen Truck Series, racing one race that season (Atlanta Motor Speedway on October 28). He finished the 2006 Truck season in 76th position driving the No. 19 Wood Brothers//JTG Racing Ford. Bires 2007 Truck season was more successful than his 2006 season, plus he was able to gain more experience in the competition because he raced seven of the 25 events. He concluded the season 44th in points, gaining one top-10 finish. He drove the No. 21 Air Force Ford for the Wood Brothers.
Bires entered the NASCAR Nationwide Series in 2007. As a rookie, he raced 19 of the 35 events with his best finish of seventh at Kentucky, where he started in 26th position. Bires best start of the 2007 Nationwide Series was at Indianapolis Raceway Park, starting fourth, but finishing the race in 38th position due to engine failure. He only led one lap during this race, the Kroger 200 on July 28, 2007.
For the 2008 Nationwide Series, Bires will drive the No. 47 Clorox Ford for Jodi Geschickter.
