Timo Glock returned to a Formula One race seat, securing a spot with Toyota upon the departure of Ralf Schumacher for 2008.
Glock's season turned around in Canada. A clever strategy and a battling drive in difficult conditions allowed Timo to lead the race briefly before holding off the Ferrari of Felipe Massa for fourth.
Despite ending in a painful accident, the German Grand Prix in 2008 marked the start of a fine run of performances which made it clear to everyone that Timo was up and running in Formula One. Immediately after that Hockenheim crash, he finished second in Hungary thanks to a prodigious performance.
He rounded out the season by scoring more points than teammate Jarno Trulli in the final eight races of the season.
Glock previously ran four races with the Formula One team Jordan in 2004 before heading to the United States in 2005 to run in the Champ Car World Series.
In 2006, he ran a full season in the GP2 championship and finished fourth. He returned to run the full season in 2007 and clinched the title. He also saw some Formula One seat time as a test driver with BMW-Sauber.
Prior to his time in Formula One, he competed in Formula 3 and also was BMW ADAC Formula champion. He started his career in karting in 1998.
