At 12 years old, Steve Wallace, son of NASCAR driver, Rusty Wallace, began his racing career in the INEX Bandolero Series, capturing multiple series ahmpionships between 1998 and 2002.
Steve has also races Legend cars and Late Model race cars in North Carolina. He has won both the Shootout's at Lowe's Motor Speedway three times - Summer Shootout (twice) and Winter Shootout (once). Not only did Steve been a champion at Concord Motor Speedway several times, but he might as well have been a champion his whole life, as he's achieved all of this before his 15th birthday.
At 17, following in his family's racing footsteps, Steve won the Snowball Derby, one of the biggest short track races in the U.S. (Pensacola, FL). However, his father, Rusty and his Uncle, Kenny had both entered this race early in thier racing career, but they failed to win it.
Steve took home the 2004 UARA Rookie of the Year award and won at Bristol Motor Speedway in the ever late model race.
Steve began running in the USAR series in 2005, racing in the Hooters Pro Cup competition. That year, Steve finished with three top-10 finishes qualifying for the post season championship.
Also in 2005, Steve went down in history for being the youngest driver ever, at 18, to win an ARCA race at Michigan International Speedway. He drove the Kodak Dodge with Penske Racing. For the remainder of the 2005 ARCA season, Steve drove with several other team sponsors.
2005 was a big year for Steve. He entered his rookie season in the NASCAR Nationwide Series that year. In his very first Nationwide race of the season, Steve started 11th and finished 15th at Memphis Motorsports Park. After that, he was grated a spot in the Dodge driver development program.
In his second year contending in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, Steve shared a ride with teammate, Jamie McMurray in 2006, racing 17 races in the No. 64 Top-Flite Dodge. Also, in 2006, Steve competed in six ARCA Series races, continuing to drive for Penske Racing. In 2006, Steve won two ARCA races and had a best finish of 11th in the Nationwide Series final points standings that year.
Steve raced full time in the Nationwide Series in 2007, winning his first pole award at Bristol Motor Speedway. He went on to win a second pole award at Nashville Superspeedway on June 9, finishing the race in 12th place.
Steve will contend in the Nationwide Series in 2008, again racing for his dad's team, Rusty Wallace, Inc.
Steve is the youngest son of Rusty Wallace. When he's not racing, some of his favorite hobbies include: building race cars, fishing, boating and golfing.
