Michael McDowell joins Michael Waltrip Racing in 2008, taking over the wheels of the No. 00 Toyota Camry from David Reutimann.
McDowell ran his first full-season of stock car racing in 2007 in the ARCA RE/MAX Series, where along with earning rookie-of-the-year honors, he won four victories. He finished second in the points.
The young driver had a taste of NASCAR competition at the end of 2007, running one Craftsman Truck race and three Nationwide races.
Prior to running stock cars, McDowell has raced in the Grand Am Rolex Series, finishing seventh in his debut season in 2005, and the Champ Car World Series (for two races in 2005).
