Viso started racing at the age of seven in go-karts in his native country Venezuela. He was so successful, and captured a number of titles, that he moved to Europe to further pursue racing.
In Europe, Viso raced in the British Formula 3 (B) Series, where he captured two championships. From there he raced in GP2 and also served as a test driver for Spyker in Formula One.
In 2008, he ran his rookie year in the Indy Car Series with HVM Racing. He scored five top-10 finishes en route to an 18th-place finish in the standings. His best finish was fourth on the streets of St. Petersburg.
