For much of his racing career Sebastien Buemi has been supported by Red Bull as part of its Junior Driver program and in addition to his GP2 in 2008, gained valuable Formula One test mileage as test and reserve driver with Red Bull Racing. He competed in GP2 in 2008 with Arden International, finishing the season sixth in the standings.
Buemi was hired by Scuderia Toro Rosso for the 2009 season, replacing Sebastien Vettel.
